The Hermitage Hotel

Nashville, TN

With its majestic presence at one end of the monumental core of Nashville, Tennessee, the city known as "The Athens of the South", The Hermitage contributes to the historic fabric of the city in important architectural fashion. Following an extensive restoration led by ForrestPerkins, the hotel returns as Nashville's natural social center. At once grand and intimate, the Beaux Arts style Lobby again sparkles with its newly lighted original stained glass skylight and restored marble walls and floor, graced by gilded moldings, custom alabaster chandeliers and hand-made rugs.

The hotel's newly polished wood paneled Ballroom, rich with elegant custom wool carpeting and lavish draperies, again plays host to the most glittering social events. Its stunning neo-classical style boardroom, which overlooks the architecturally significant State Capitol and War Memorial buildings, is a fitting setting for the most important of executive meetings.

ForrestPerkins designed The Capitol Grille to be the venue for power breakfasts and dinners of political and social import and an intimate meeting place for Nashville's music industry and sports celebrities. The famed Oak Bar is again a gathering place for local patrons and hotel guests alike.

In addition to leading the restoration of public areas, ForrestPerkins provided interior architecture, planning and interior design for the guest levels of the hotel. Having gutted the guest floors, they created a seamless new interior with traditional details, such as Georgian architraves at each guestroom entrance, that marry beautifully with the architectural detail of the Beaux Arts public spaces; yet they accommodated the most technologically sophisticated systems available. The newly planned guest rooms and suites provide an average of 475 square feet of luxurious living space graced by reproduction furnishings, high ceilings with traditional moldings, fluffy beds unmatched for comfort and elegant five fixture marble bathrooms.

The Presidential Suite features an unmatched view of the Tennessee State Capitol with spacious living areas and a large master bedroom that includes a luxurious marble bathroom.

The success of the restored Hermitage Hotel lies in the approach guided by the owner's vision: to create a five-star/diamond environment in which to deliver the highest caliber of service, that would support achieving the highest level of recognition by Mobil and AAA. As a result of focused execution of this shared goal, the hotel was awarded AAA Five Diamond status a short nine months after its reopening and became Tennessee's only Mobil Five Star Hotel in 2007.
